With the client fully clothed and lying down, the practitioner carries out a series of tests to locate the exact sites of body stress, and determines the precise directions in which the lines of tension exist. This is done by applying light pressure to various points on the
body and observing the response. In this way, the body acts as a
biofeedback mechanism, supplying the information required.
A specially
designed bed is used to transfer the client to a lying position. The
client stands against the bed and is gradually lowered in one smooth
action, minimizing any painful and unnecessary movement. It is often
necessary to lower a person slowly in the case of
a severe lower back problem.
The design of the bed also enables
those who use a wheelchair, and can bear weight, to transfer
comfortably.

Having
located the precise sites of body stress, light but definite
pressure is applied in specific directions. The treatment is not a
massage.
The applied pressure works on
nerve impulses in the muscles: It is this activation of the
nerves, which releases the compression in the
muscles and explains the body's rapid response. Thus
a more efficiently functioning nervous system assists the body in
maximising its self-healing capacity. |

If the body stress has occurred recently, the process of releasing it is usually very rapid. However, if the stress has been stored for a long time, the stress releases may have to
be carried out over a period of time. This is because the tight, protective layers of the muscles tend to relax by degrees back to their normal tone.
Because Body Stress Release works with the body's natural striving to be stress free, it is a gentle procedure that does not require force.

You should NOTE: Body Stress Release is not a diagnosis or
Treatment of any condition or disease. It is concerned only with locating and releasing stored tension, so that the body is assisted in its in-built ability to maintain and heal itself.
